Anna Longley

Assistant Commissioner and General Counsel, Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission

Anna is the Assistant Commissioner, General Counsel at the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. She is the senior legal advisor to the ACNC Commissioner and the Advisory Board. Anna also contributes to the corporate and strategic leadership of the ACNC as a member of the Senior Management Team.

With a sound background in the NFP and charities sector, Anna will discuss the role of charities and not-for-profits in building a vibrant and innovative society. Her session will cover ACNC legislative review, compliance and support that is offered to not-for-profit organisations so they can thrive in a vibrant and innovative society.

LLB(Hons), Solicitor of Supreme Court of Victoria, GradDipEd, Diploma of Management, Senior tax Trainer, TaxBanter

Nicole is a lawyer who has previously been employed by Maurice Blackburn and the Australian Taxation Office, where she worked in litigation and dispute resolution, and the Aggressive Tax Planning area of the Private Groups and High Wealth Individuals program, including SMSFs. She has also worked on charity regulation reform at the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.

Nicole’s session will cover the most recent tax changes affecting not-for-profit organisations, including GST, honorarium, fundraising and income tax exemptions.

PhD, Research Fellow, Future of Work Institute, Curtin University, Director, Learning for Purpose

Ramon Wenzel, Ph.D., is the Director of the Learning for Purpose initiative to research and realise the potential of not-for-profit organisations and people. He draws on human psychology and organisational management to improve effectiveness, evaluation, re/design and transfer of all forms of formal and informal work learning.

Global pandemics, technological innovation, automation and demographic changes are disrupting the not-for-profit sector and it’s time to enable evidence-based leadership in your organisation.

In his session, Ramon will explore research findings to help you better understand the ways in which the organisation of work itself is changing, and how to design work so it drives staff engagement, health and productivity.
